Ever since I first watched "Under the Tuscan Sun" and had a glimpse of Pasitano, I knew this was somewhere I had to
visit. I didn't meet my version of Marcello (if you've seen the movie, you know what I mean), but did try the limoncello and would return here in a heartbeat. The pictures do not do it justice!
Whereas Vieste was a white washed village, Pasitano is a pastel water color wash...every building a slightly
different color built into the mountain.
Early morning I ventured down to the water, then up the mountain...an ideal morning.

Limoncello
Recipes vary by family, but in this area where the smell of lemons fill the air, this is the nector "of Gods". When we went out one evening, we determined that the "proper" way of drinking on is with a pinky extended, much like the Brits do with team. Were we right? Doubt it, but had a lot of good giggles.
Here are the ingredients, give or take, to make limoncello:
15 lemons; 2 (750 ml) bottles 100-proof vodka or 1 (750 ml)
bottle of Everclear (190-proof) alcohol; 4 cups granulated suga and 5 cups water (filtered tap water or distilled water).

Positano overview
From the Rick Steve's Italy 2012 Guide (page 967) “According to legend, the Greek god Poseidon created Positano
for Pasitea, a nymph he lusted after. History says the town was founded when ancient Greeks at Paestum decided
to move out of the swamp (to escape the malaria carried by its mosquitoes)…” Whichever is "true" it is an incredible place!
The first day, before breakfast, I meandered down to the sea for the incredible sunrise. After breakfast I hiked the two major roadways up one hill, then down and up the other winding road. The scenery was beyond belief. The photo’s give it half the justice it deserves. As I walked to the top of the hill, I stopped for a cappuccino, and met up with a lovely couple who have been coming to Positano for 8 years (once every two years). I joked I had already taken over 100
photos. They smiled.
Apparently they first decided to come to Positano when a friend shared his photos, and they asked how he retouched them, that there could NOT be such color! Even after 4 trips, they still take more photos…exploring different nooks and crannies of the town they’re still awe-struck.
When I win the lottery (dare to dream) I will have a small place here….a pastel water color wash come to life!
